Orangeville Make a Move

We're raising funds for scleroderma research. Help me reach our goal and support those who are living with this disease. Let’s find a cure together!

This year, we're taking part in Make a Move for Scleroderma to raise funds and awareness for everyone affected by this rare and often misunderstood disease. Scleroderma is life changing for those diagnosed and their families but with your support, we can make a difference.

The funds we raise will help support vital research, provide programs and resources for patients, raise awareness for this rare disease, and strengthen advocacy efforts to improve access to care and treatments.

Please consider supporting our fundraising efforts. Together, we can find a cure. đź’™

In Memory of Robert Janes

Wednesday 6th May
My little family our joining the Make a Move walk in Orangeville in honour of Robert Janes.  He was Dad to my cousins Stephanie and Robert.
đź’™ SCLERODERMA AWARENESS đź’™

Many people have never heard of scleroderma until someone they love is fighting it.

Scleroderma is a rare autoimmune disease where the body attacks itself and produces too much collagen. This causes hardening and tightening of the skin and can also damage internal organs.

What many people don’t see is how deeply this disease affects the body:

• Tightening and hardening of the skin• Severe joint and muscle pain• Digestive and swallowing problems• Esophagus damage and stretching procedures• Lung and heart complications• Poor circulation and painful fingers/toes• Extreme fatigue and weakness• Calcium buildup under the skin• Weight loss and muscle wasting• Loss of mobility and independence

Scleroderma changes lives physically, emotionally, and mentally — not only for the person living with it, but for the entire family watching someone they love slowly lose parts of themselves while still fighting every single day.

Their Dad, Robert Janes, fought a long and courageous battle with scleroderma. He went from a strong, hardworking man full of life to battling a disease that slowly affected every part of his body. But through it all, he continued to fight with strength, stubbornness, and determination.

This is why our Make a Move walk matters.

We walk for awareness. We walk for research. We walk for families. We walk for hope.

đź’™ Please join us Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Island Lake or donate if you can. Even the smallest amount helps make a difference.
