Meet the Walk Coordinator, Celina Mosquera
I’m a proud mom of three energetic boys and a loving wife. As the daughter of immigrants from El Salvador, I have a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the importance of education. I’m currently in my final year at Red Deer Polytechnic, pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Education, driven by a passion for shaping the future through teaching and empowering others. Balancing family life with my academic goals is no easy feat, but being both a mom and a student motivates me to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
In addition to my academic and family life, I’m deeply passionate about raising awareness for Scleroderma, a cause close to my heart. My friend and I are starting the Scleroderma Walk in Red Deer in honor of her, as she has been courageously battling the disease. She inspires me every day with her unwavering positive energy and the laughter that is always a part of her vibe, no matter the challenges she faces. This is our first time organizing this event, and it means so much to me to support her and others like her, while also raising awareness and funding for critical research. I’m excited to be part of this walk and to help push for progress in understanding and treating Scleroderma. Research is essential in making a difference, and I’m committed to doing my part in supporting that effort.
Meet the Walk Coordinator, Julie Rincon
My name is Julie, I moved to Canada back in 2013 against my Dr recommendation. 20 years ago, I was diagnosed with scleroderma a word I couldn’t even pronounce at the time. Since then, it’s tested me, taught me, and shaped me in ways I never imagined. It hasn’t been easy, But over the years, it became an everyday reality, shaping how I see the world, how I care for myself, and how I measure my strength. Two decades later, I’ve learned that this disease does not define me. It’s part of my story, but not the whole story. My life is filled with family, friendships, hope, and a determination to keep moving forward no matter the obstacles. This is my journey, my truth, and my way of showing that even when life feels unrecognizable, it can still be meaningful and beautiful.
